Webinar is a shortening of the term Web seminar.

A webinar is a free, sponsored educational seminar accessed over the Internet. Typically, these events are broadcast live and you view them on your desktop. Some may be recorded and fed to you as a digital stream. Webinars can be one-way only (i.e., you get information coming to you) or two-way where you interact with others in the webinar.
