Wireless Application (Access) Protocol
(whap)
A protocol that defines how web data is delivered to wireless terminals with minimal screen display area. Introduced in Europe, WAP is not being well received because of the slow connection, very limited screen sizes on mobile phones, and the use of a number keypad as a keyboard. Next generation systems are expected to improve things but are being spoken of as "mobile Internet" instead of WAP.
