Unshielded Twisted Pair
(U-T-P)
As its name implies, this is a cable consisting of two unshielded wires twisted around each other. It is relatively cheap and easily strung. The twisting is supposed to cut down on interference; but does not eliminate it entirely. UTP is useful for telephone and other lower-bandwidth applications.
