Photochemical Hole Burning
(P-H-B)
A technique used for optical memory. A visible laser is pointed at the surface of glass doped with either organic dyes or rare-earth elements. At points where the laser strikes the glass excited electrons change the visual absorption spectrum at that point, thus recording a point of data.
