National Center for Supercomputing Applications
(N-C-S-A)
One of the five original centers in the National Science Foundation's Supercomputer Centers Program and a unit of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It opened its doors in January of 1986. NCSA implements experimental supercomputing and high-performance computing systems and networks and develops applications in high-performance computing, visualization, and desktop software.
NCSA was responsible for the first version of the Mosaic WWW browser.
