Infrared Data Association
(I-R-D-A)
A group and standard for infrared data transfer between devices. IrDA data transfer requires a clean line of sight and devices should be fairly close for the best transfer. Data rates are about the same as a parallel connection. IrDA ports can be found in portable computers, printers, digital cameras, and other devices that need to connect and share information.
