Icon

Some form of on-screen graphic that represents some entity on the computer or a link to some entity either on the computer or on a network or the Internet. Icons can be various sizes but generally are shown as either 16x16 pixel or 32x32 pixel images. An art form has developed around icons attempting to figure out how to show a meaningful picture to the user in that limited space without confusing multiple images that might look similar.
