Intelligent (Integrated) Drive Electronics
(I-D-E)
A specification for drives which contain both drive and control electronics. Also called AT Attachment (ATA). Drives up to 504MB are supported. Two devices (master and slave) are supported. IDE replaced ESDI and is being replaced by EIDE.
