Global Positioning Satellite (System)
(G-P-S)
A U.S. government satellite system used to triangulate locations to very close accuracy. The constellation is 24 satellites in low orbit. A GPS receiver will sample data from a number of satellites (two or more, often six) and calculate your position based on differences in time of signal reception.
