Fractal Image Format

(F-I-F)

A graphics file format from MediaBin (Iterated Systems, Inc.). It uses fractals (geometric repeating shapes) to compress images. Since the patterns repeat, large file compression is typically possible. An FIF file is typically edited using a PhotoShop Plug-in like LizardTech's Genuine Fractals.
