Dual In-Line Memory Module
(dim)
A small board with memory chips mounted on both sides of it. DIMM provides a 64-bit data transfer versus the 32-bit data transfer of a SIMM. A typical DIMM will have 168 pins. A board termed "Small Outline DIMM" having 72 pins (32-bit transfers) or 144 pins (64-bit transfers) is about half the size of a regular DIMM and is typically used in smaller notebook computers.
